01 · Purpose and aims
01 · Playbook purpose

Irish Medtech Skillnet, Irish Medtech and Brightbeam developed the Playbook with participating MedTech companies in Ireland. It provides a practical guide to where and how generative AI could support operations, improve efficiency and extend the contribution of skilled people. It starts with recurring operational problems and keeps expert judgement and accountability central.

02 · Objective of the event

Introduce the Playbook, help attendees recognise opportunities relevant to their own work, and connect industry experience with the national supports available for adoption.

03 · Objective of the industry panel

Following the Playbook introduction, connect the first three value streams to everyday practice. The discussion should draw out useful problems, barriers to adoption and the conditions that help teams make progress. Your perspective across digitalisation, automation and insights can help explain how companies move from an idea to something useful in the workplace.

02 · The first three value streams
01
Quality & Compliance

Quality information often exists across several systems, making it difficult to assemble for investigations and audits. Participants prioritised deviation management, audit readiness, risk review and finding relevant quality knowledge. AI could assist search and preparation while experts assess the evidence and make decisions.

02
Manufacturing

Teams identified opportunities to reduce paperwork and make operational information and experienced technicians’ knowledge easier to use. Priorities included performance reporting, knowledge capture and shift handover, helping people understand what is happening and respond with the right context.

03
Regulation & Sustainability

Teams need to track changing requirements and understand their implications for site procedures. Opportunities include monitoring regulatory developments, tracing their impact and assembling auditable sustainability evidence, including energy and emissions data. The aim is more continuous readiness, supported by traceable information.

03 · Thought starter questions
Quality & Compliance
1
Where could AI help quality teams most, and what would make its outputs trustworthy?
2
What makes quality information difficult to find and use?
3
How should teams check AI outputs before acting on them?
Manufacturing
1
Which manufacturing problems are good candidates for AI, and what needs to be ready first?
2
How could AI help capture experienced technicians’ knowledge?
3
What would you measure to judge whether a pilot helps?
Regulation & Sustainability
1
How could AI help teams respond to changing requirements while retaining traceable evidence and human accountability?
2
How could AI help connect changing requirements to site procedures?
3
What makes sustainability data usable and auditable?

Choose whichever questions suit your experience, or suggest alternatives for Brian. These are optional prompts for discussion.
